Local storage, iCloud and privacy

Know where your entries live and how syncing and app lock work.

Your device comes first

Entries save locally first. You can keep writing when iCloud is temporarily unavailable. Cross-device syncing uses your private iCloud database; no separate Yesterbook account is needed.

Give syncing time

Use the same Apple Account on your devices, with iCloud available and a network connection. The system syncs in the background. A connected account does not mean every entry and photo has finished downloading.

If another device is missing content, allow time, then check iCloud status in My on iPhone or iPad, or Settings on Mac. A temporarily unavailable Mac photo can also be reloaded from its context menu.

Lock access to your journal

Enable app lock in the privacy settings. Authentication uses supported Face ID, Touch ID or the device password, handled by the system. Grant photo and location access as needed for the features you use.

App lock protects access on the device. Read the official privacy policy for the full data-handling details.
